Wavewalk 700 review by its own designer

The new saddle design performed exactly as we had intended it to. The combined effect of the multiple molded-in brackets along the saddle’s length and the wooden bracket at its rear end provided the feeling of sturdiness and comfort that I wanted to achieve when we worked on this new design. Starting the motor while facing backward was easy, and turning in the cockpit in order to drive facing forward was easy too. She first sat in the front of the cockpit facing forward, and while I was driving, she turned around and sat facing backward. She did it effortlessly, and I didn’t have to make a particular effort to balance the boat while she was turning.

This wouldn’t have been an issue with the W700, since it is a true twin-hull featuring a pair of very narrow hulls. However, the extreme width of those other fishing kayaks (some exceed 40 inches…) works to make them sluggish also by preventing their users from moving their paddles effectively. Review of my Wavewalk 700

It has taken a couple weeks to get my stone crab traps set up and dropped overboard from my commercial fishing boat “Line Dancer”. This vessel, a 27′ Lindsey w/ a B-series Cummins diesel, will make a fine mother ship to transport the W700 and my W500 to the Everglades, wrecks, reefs, and Gulf Stream waters surrounding Key Largo. At 80 lbs , the new Wavewalk™ 700 series is the most lightweight microskiff on the market. In fact, it weighs almost half as the next lightweight boat in this class. This makes the W700 is the only car-top microskiff out there.

I would be up for the challenge someday, but both in equipment and experience I am not yet in a place to do that safely. I believe every word in Wavewalk’s rigorous scientific research. Rain will fall into the large open cockpit and accumulate on the bottom of the hulls, however, a plastic tarp covering can be positioned over the opening to minimize the accumulation. I simply place a couple of large sponges in the hull tips and keep a plastic container on board to bail if need be.

Testing the W700 with a 6 hp outboard motor

There is a sit on top out there for your size also. Price wise, the new models will go for $100 more than the current models, according to the way they’re outfitted (rod holders etc.). N terms of recommended load capacity and perceived stability, the increase will be about 100% compared to our current model. I bought the navy initially but later got a pair in black as well. I could do without the big loop on the back, but because of the comfort level and because they actually came in a size 12, I chose not to let the loop deter me. The black look good enough to keep you looking smart while traveling, rather than having to wear white mesh, multi-color stripe running shoes. Being 6 ft tall, I felt more comfortable sitting a little higher than in the W500.

I think if you have a super wide foot this may not be the shoe for you. The Wavewalk catamaran style skiff is the stable and portable boat that literally, does it all.

I love the look and I used to love the feel of this shoe. I just ordered a new pair of the same size that I always order (9.5w) and it was so loose around the back of the ankle and heel that my foot was slipping out. I ordered a 9.5m to see if it fit better and it was too narrow. I then ordered another 9.5w to see if the first poorly fitting pair was just a fluke. Nope that one also left my foot slipping out the back. Clarks must have changed the way they manufacture the shoe. Our cruising grounds are shallow with numerous oyster beds.

I am not stuck in one position, I can also stand up and stretch out which feels nice. Your idea of not being able to plant your feet isn’t really an issue, you are either flat footed or on the balls of your feet (which puts you in a Wavewalk Review better posture- not parroting it really does, come paddle it) or you could put your feet in front of you if you want. The ability to move around to adjust the balance of the boat to wind, wave , current conditions is a plus also.
